CRUCIAL CHAOS tonight: “Desert Dysphoria”

Tune in tonight for DESERT DYSPHORIA: A spread of projects from Phoenix/Tempe, Arizona featuring DESTRUCTION UNIT / Marshstepper / Jungle Monk / Acid Dawgz / Clear Bob / Euphoria / Pleasure Corps / Body Of Light / Ryan Rousseau / + more.

Noise punk, psyched-out new-wave power pop, outsider bedroom-noise, dark pop / drone, psych-fried folk, and everything in-between. Previous and forthcoming releases from Tempe’s Ascetic House Collective, Ryan Rousseau’s Cactus Man, and Austin’s Jolly Dream Records, plus a live jam from the “Sandy Sessions” recorded at Heaven Street in Brooklyn on the eve of the hurricane by NYC’s own Kyle “Bad Eyes” Hagerman (this ecstatic wave of psychedelic noise may be the only “good” thing born of Sandy’s wrath). The kicker is an interview with with JS Aurelius, co-founder of Ascetic House, guitar-player in Destruction Unit, creator of Pleasure Corps, denizen of Pigeon Religion and Avon Ladies, and sometimes front man, sometimes faceless but vital appendage of many ever-shifting entities dreamed up by this awesomely creative group of individuals.

VAZ LIVE AT MONSTER ISLAND FROM THE CRUCIAL CHAOS ARCHIVES TONIGHT!

Greetings Lithuanian friends!  This week it’s another rare gem from the CRUCIAL CHAOS ARCHIVES, featuring a live set by Brooklyn-based VAZ. I made this recording on September 10th, 2011 at the Monster Island Basement Farewell Block Party. Vaz were freshly back in town after a US tour with Pygmy Shrews, just in time for the Brooklyn DIY venue’s last hurrah – the building was fated to be demolished in October 2011. Thanks for listening!
