UOJ!
Signal’s been a little spotty, but Dona’s still out there somewhere… so listen tonight! And check out the playlist here.
Get stoked for The Men’s upcoming LP New Moon, out March 5 on Sacred Bones Records. They’re tourin’ a bit of Eastern Europe this spring (tried to get them out to Lithuania, but alas). Check the dates here if you feel like takin’ a road trip to Berlin, Prague, or Cleveland. Here’s a video for their first cut from the new one, “Electric,” recorded at London’s Shackwell Arms last summer:
Become equally pumped for the forthcoming debut full-length from Olympia’s Milk Music, Cruise Your Illusion, out April 2 via Fat Possum on CD. They will also be self-releasing a vinyl edition. I have been waiting for this since 2010′s Beyond Living 12″ EP from Perennial Records, which I have over-played on this show, it’s true. Sue me. Listen to “I’ve Got a Wild Feeling,” check out this cool art, channel Crazy Horse:
Tune in tonight for DESERT DYSPHORIA: A spread of projects from Phoenix/Tempe, Arizona featuring DESTRUCTION UNIT / Marshstepper / Jungle Monk / Acid Dawgz / Clear Bob / Euphoria / Pleasure Corps / Body Of Light / Ryan Rousseau / + more.
Noise punk, psyched-out new-wave power pop, outsider bedroom-noise, dark pop / drone, psych-fried folk, and everything in-between. Previous and forthcoming releases from Tempe’s Ascetic House Collective, Ryan Rousseau’s Cactus Man, and Austin’s Jolly Dream Records, plus a live jam from the “Sandy Sessions” recorded at Heaven Street in Brooklyn on the eve of the hurricane by NYC’s own Kyle “Bad Eyes” Hagerman (this ecstatic wave of psychedelic noise may be the only “good” thing born of Sandy’s wrath). The kicker is an interview with with JS Aurelius, co-founder of Ascetic House, guitar-player in Destruction Unit, creator of Pleasure Corps, denizen of Pigeon Religion and Avon Ladies, and sometimes front man, sometimes faceless but vital appendage of many ever-shifting entities dreamed up by this awesomely creative group of individuals.
Tonight on CRUCIAL CHAOS, something a little different is going down: it is with deep, dark pleasure that I bring you a psychedelecstatic guest dj set import – transmitted from a bunker in the nether realms of the Netherlands by The Dude, Ronnie Stark, aka Noah Venezia of The Psychedelic Review, Stupendous, and CRUCIAL CHAOS email update fame! Tune in, turn on, drop out at 7PM EET.
Originally aired on WNYU 89.1 FM in New York City, USA on May 31, 2012. Tune in next week same time, same space. In the meantime, visit facebook.com/CRUCIALCHAOS for more information, and drop Dona a line at crucial.chaos@wnyu.org.
